Acupuncture for veterans through the VA's Community Care Network.Free Consultation
"I'm honored to serve veterans as part of the VA's Community Care Network. If you're a veteran dealing with pain, I'm here to work alongside your VA healthcare team at no cost to you."

How Acupuncture Complements Your VA Care

Kristine works as part of your healthcare team, not as a replacement for your doctors. Acupuncture is complementary medicine designed to enhance your existing treatments.

VA referrals are available for pain conditions including:

  • Chronic back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Joint pain and arthritis
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Nerve pain
  • Pain from injuries or trauma
  • And more

While treating pain, many veterans have also experienced improvements in sleep, stress levels, and other aspects of their health. Each person’s response is unique, and we’ll track your progress together.

How VA Referrals Work

Get Your Referral

Your VA doctor writes a referral for acupuncture.

Request Kristine

You may request Kristine specifically as your provider.

Initial Authorization

The initial authorization typically includes 12 treatments to be used within 60 days.

Evaluation

An initial evaluation and a mid-authorization check-in are completed. If further treatment is needed, Kristine submits a request for an additional authorization through the VA.

Continued Care

Kristine manages the paperwork for subsequent authorizations, which typically include 8 treatments within a 90-day period.

Ongoing Support

Kristine is committed to working with patients as long as needed to appropriately manage pain and support wellness.

Requesting Kristine as Your Provider

You have choices in your care

Kristine is an approved Community Care provider, and requesting her directly can save you time. Typically, veterans get randomly assigned to an acupuncturist unless they request a specific practitioner.

What to tell your VA doctor

When your VA doctor creates the referral, tell them: “I’d like to see Kristine McGinley at Kristine Acupuncture in Vancouver.

You can also provide her NPI number and the clinic’s address:

Tracking Your Progress

Pain management isn’t always a straight line. Some weeks are better than others. That’s why Kristine works with you for as long as necessary.

Throughout your authorization period, you will have evaluations to assess your progress. At your mid-authorization evaluation, you and Kristine will discuss what’s working and determine if continued care would benefit you.

No extra paperwork for you: When you need additional treatments, Kristine will handle all the paperwork and continuation requests with the VA – you just focus on feeling better.

Kristine is committed to supporting you throughout the entire process, tailoring the approach to your individual needs.
