What to Expect During Treatment
Because every body is different, treatments can vary. Your session will consist of either Acupuncture or Zen Shiatsu or a combination of the two. Adjunct therapies include cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, qigong, and crystal therapy are added according to your needs. Treatment is determined based on your chief complaint and your body's constitution. This will be discussed at your initial appointment.
Treatment Flow
Specific complaint/desired outcome
Treatment is organized by 6 week segments. Frequency of treatment is recommended and agreed upon by both Kristine and patient. This can be either once or twice a week. At the end of 6 weeks there is a re-evaluation and it is discussed what further treatment is wanted/needed. This is also when herbal and nutritional supplement recommendations are made. Another 6-week session may be recommended or a transition to wellness care.
This will depend on your progress and status of recovery.
General wellness and health maintenance
If general wellness and health maintenance is desired then the patient will be allowed to choose the frequency of their treatment plan. Often patients will choose to start at a shorter interval between treatments and then space it out farther as their systems balance. The patient has the choice of twice weekly, once a week, every other week, twice a month, every three weeks, once a month, or quarterly. The patient may also choose to schedule appointments only as needed.
Please note that most appointments need to be made one month in advance.
Plan ahead accordingly.
VA referrals
For referrals from the Office of Veterans Affairs, every authorization comes with a specific number of treatments allowed and a timeframe of when they must occur. Usually your first authorization is 12 treatments within a 60 day period.
Subsequent authorizations generally allow 8 treatments within a 90 day period.
There will be an initial evaluation and a mid-auth evaluation. If it is determined at the mid-auth evaluation that you will need further treatment I will request a continuation of care from the VA office.
I am committed to your care and will work with you as long as necessary to properly manage your pain.
